The City of Lugano/Polo Culturale and the SUPSI (University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland) have the pleasure of inviting you to the International Conference on Museology “Reflections in a Mirror”, on Saturday March 7, 2009 at the Università della Svizzera Italiana.
Traditionally, museum is perceived as an institution that preserves art-works and items but its role as communicating actor become more and more important. Looking at the museum as real as well as ideal space, the conference brings some reflection paths addressing prominently to students and professors in Museography, History of Art, Cultural and Art Anthropology, Cultural Heritage Sciences, Architecture and Exhibition design, Communication, Art-Market, Business Management, as well as people professionally involved in different ways in museum and cultural networks management and activities, at both public and private level.
The one-day Conference is subdivided in four topic-discussions, where international experts with different specializations interact and exchange experiences and opinions. The conference aims at identifying the main changes in the museum of today and tomorrow. It also gives the opportunity to understand the object and the meaning of the functional system of museum and cultural networks.
The conference settles in wider international debate about mission and management of museum and cultural networks, in relation to their contribution to social welfare and freedom, in the sense that both broaden the range of intellectual, practical and emotional tools, which human beings need for their choices.
“Reflections in a mirror” is organized by the Museo delle Culture of Lugano and the Laboratorio di Cultura Visiva of SUPSI, degree courses in Architecture and Exhibition design and in Visual communication, with the support of Museo d’Arte of Lugano
